She was a performer, artist creator, and performer who broke boundaries in the music world. She was Mexican-American, but she was also a traditional. She brought Tejano into the mainstream of music. As is often the case with a bright and genial star passes away far too early, her untimely demise caused her to lose the popularity she had been gaining. Many mourned all of its untapped potential. Fans were inspired throughout through the years to dig their heels even harder working to make sure her accomplishments are not forgotten. Her death in a shooting triggered emotion in Latino society that could be likened to Elvis Presley, and John Lennon. A hugely popular Latino musician across North America, Selena's music has influenced many people across different cultures. Selena may have been hailed by certain people as the Latina Madonna, but she's still an excellent example to follow. Selena's family values off stage as well as her involvement with AIDS awareness efforts are exemplary.
